1 April 2025 – The Ferry batteries were replaced today! Our local certified and mobile marine mechanic, who is authorized to make warranty repairs on the Ferry electric motor, needs to inspect and diagnose the motor. He will either fix or replace it. If the motor cannot be repaired, the Trust will have the brand new backup motor, that we have been keeping in storage, installed. The motor is a hard-wire design, meaning it cannot be switched easily. Also, unfortunately, the mechanic is currently ill (so much sickness going around). We are hoping he recovers soon and can get to the Ferry, perhaps this week. Other mobile marine mechanic availability is weeks out and repairs by unauthorized mechanics would void the warranty.
