Holiday Message from the Trustees – Ferry & Boat Ramp Access 2022

Happy Holidays to Everyone from the SVBET Trustees.

As previously noted, the ferry passes and the ramp “keys” will be electronic access beginning in January 2022 and forward. Please contact the SVBET office and make certain you have the following information with you: (1) if you are a property owner a copy of your property tax bill, or a utility bill; (2) if you are a renter, a copy of your valid 30-day lease.  If you wish to purchase boat ramp access, you will also need; (1) boat registration, trailer registration and vehicle registration.

Property owners with multiple residences in South Venice will only be issued ONE resident ferry pass/boat ramp access. SVBET will NOT sell passes to property owners who violate Sarasota County laws prohibiting rentals more frequently than 30 days. No passes will be issued more frequently than every 30 days.

For people renting vacation rentals your tenant will be required to show a
valid lease for the time period they rented.   If it’s less than 30 days, and no other pass has been entered for that month, a 30-day pass may be purchased.  The 30-day pass is non-transferable. There is NO REFUND for time unused within that 30 days. (If your tenant is here for 10 days, the minimum time they can purchase is 30 days). If you have a second tenant rent the same property within the same month, no ferry pass or boat ramp pass will be issued. The rules and required documents for purchasing ferry passes and/or ramp access will be posted on the SVBET web page and on the property at 4800 Lemon Bay Dr.

Rates for 2022 are as follows:

Resident ferry pass year –  $150.00
Resident boat ramp access – $120.00

Monthly ferry passes $50 per month. Month is defined as a calendar month.

Monthly boat ramp access $50.
Month is defined as a calendar month.

Annual renters with a valid signed lease will be permitted to purchase an
annual ferry pass and/or boat ramp access at the same rate as property
owners.

Seasonal renters (with proof of lease) will be permitted to purchase
monthly passes for the time rented. (Again, no partial months, it is not
transferable, no refunds for partial usage).

Pursuant to the trust document, publication of the balance in the trust
must be published at least one time per year. While it has been published
earlier in the year, the numbers as of the end of October 31, 2021 is
$787,987. The balance as of December 21, 2020 was $708,492. In 10 months in 2021 we have accrued $79,495 in addition to all the improvements at 4800 Lemon Bay; the new security cameras, upgraded monitors in the ferry house, new engine for the ferry, fence, and the new boat ramp gate which should be arriving soon.  A very big thank you to my fellow Trustee, Chuck Bauman for managing those assets in conjunction with our financial advisor!

We are pleased to announce Julie Packard as our third trustee. Julie is a
long time South Venice resident, she has a wealth of knowledge about the
SVBET and the beach. We are excited to have her as a valued member of the
Board. Julie is filling the vacancy left by John Bridinger. Her term is
slated to end at the end of 2024.
